Supporting local healthcare and community initiatives across York County.
Our Projects
The York County Medical Foundation funds and supports a wide range of charitable and humanitarian initiatives both locally and internationally. Locally, they provide financial support to community nonprofits such as food banks, shelters, counseling centers, and emergency-relief organizations, helping meet essential needs for people across York County. Globally, the Foundation contributes to medical missions, supplies hospitals in underserved regions with vital equipment, and supports relief and rebuilding efforts in the aftermath of disasters. Their work also includes promoting health education and expanding access to medical care for vulnerable populations, ensuring that donated funds directly improve lives at home and abroad.

Mauritania
What we do in Mauritania
Chinguetti is an ancient Saharan city in Mauritania, home to historic libraries and a small hospital founded by Dr. Amanda Beattie. Since 2022, she and Dr. Tiruchelvam have led annual humanitarian medical missions to bring modern surgical and diagnostic care to the region.
In 2022, Dr. Tiru’s team performed Mauritania’s first laparoscopic gallbladder and hernia surgeries. In 2023, they expanded services by launching the country’s first fine-needle aspiration pathology program and screening mammography program.
In 2024, donor support allowed the team to introduce endoscopy services and create the area’s first colon cancer screening program. They completed 18 gastroscopes, 17 colonoscopies, and 19 surgeries. One colonoscopy detected cancer, and the patient underwent a successful life-saving colon resection.
In 2025, the team returned for additional surgical and endoscopic care, including a clear follow-up colonoscopy for the treated patient.
The Foundation’s next mission is planned for January 2026 with a team of eight volunteers continuing this vital work.

Building Bridges for Brianna
How we help Building Bridges for Brianna
Building Bridges for Brianna, founded by Matt Dorgan in York County, PA, aims to prevent suicide and self-injury while supporting mental health nationwide. Inspired by the loss of his daughter, Brianna, Matt emphasizes community support and connecting those in need with help. The organization promotes suicide awareness, funds prevention programs, and supports families dealing with mental health issues.
Since meeting Matt in 2023, the York County Medical Foundation donated $80,000 to Building Bridges, enabling the organization to open up their first office where they were able to see clients. Within a year of opening, Building Bridges moved to a new office in Dallastown, enabling them to service more persons needing mental health care. The 2025 Golf Event enabled the Foundation to donate the monies to purchase a car for the transport of individuals needing mental health care. To date, Building Bridges has impacted over 400 clients!
On August 28, 2024, Matt was named the national winner of the Jefferson Award for Public Service!
